We'll gather in the hundreds on the evening of July 31st in Greeley Park of Nashua, ready to kick off five sweaty days of walking and talking, eating, teaching and calling for the scale of action our country needs. We'll stay at farms where the yearly bounty has diminished over the warming years and churches whose congregations have found faith in our ability as a community to confront the global warming crisis. We'll eat fresh vegetables from the farms we pass and learn from local energy experts as we walk with the state's largest power plant as our backdrop. In the evenings, we'll rest our tired feet as we hear from musicians, local heroes, and fellow marchers.
We'll walk beside Bill McKibben, organizer of Step It Up and a guiding voice and leader in this movement. Granny D will be there, who - at the age of 89 - crossed the country afoot for a cause of her own. Now at 97, she's promised us that she'll be back on the road.
On the morning of August 5th, citizens from across the state and the nation will gather - highschoolers and preschoolers, mayors and representatives, steelworkers and environmental advocates - joined by thousands as we walk the last mile into the center of Concord and rally on the state house lawn.
En masse, we'll make the loudest call to our leaders yet: we want clean energy, green jobs, and a strong economy to cut our carbon emissions 80% by 2050.
WRITE A LETTER TO THE EDITOR!
Writing a letter to the editor of your local newspaper is an easy and effective way to spread the word about real global warming solutions, the marches to ReEnergize Iowa and New Hampshire, and their impact. You should check your paper's rules, but usually they want 250 words or less and require the writer’s name, full address, and daytime phone number. If you need a little aperatif to get those creative juices flowing, check out our Sample Letter. Feel free to use it as a template as you add and subtract until it reflects your opinion about the need to build a clean energy economy for real global warming solutions. Don't forget to mention the marches and our website! Check your local paper’s website info about where to send your letter, or use the links below:
