- Even better! Walk or bike.
March Route and Safety
Each day we will be walking between 7-12 miles, along the side of the roadways. South of Manchester we will be walking on 3A, and north of Manchester we will mainly be on Route 3. We will have a team of volunteers in orange vests coordinating traffic safety with us at all times. In the larger cities, we will have a police escort to keep us safe. We ask marchers to pay attention, follow directions from our safety volunteers, stay together, and help keep everyone safe along the way.
Housing
If you are joining us for multiple days of the march, you are welcome to stay with us. Housing will be available, but we warn you that it will not be luxurious - we will be sleeping on the floors of school auditoriums, church basements, and in farm and school fields. There will be bathrooms and water at all our housing locations. We ask multiple-day marchers to bring their own sleeping bag, pillow, and tent. We have some tents available on a limited basis for those who need them, but please let us know in advance. And most importantly, be sure to thank our lovely hosts for letting us stay over!
Bus to Final Rally
There will be a bus leaving from Portsmouth on Sunday August 5th to take people from the Seacoast to the Final Rally on the State house lawn. The Bus is through a local Portsmouth Bus company and is fueled by a local Biodiesel distributor, thus supporting local economy. By taking the bus you will lessen the total carbon foot print of the event, engage in building community amongst your fellow citizens, and have a wonderful time.
The Bus will leave at 9:30 and get to the staging area just outside of Concord at 11:00. We will then march down a closed off Main Street and Rally on the State House lawn. The bus will depart from Concord at 3:30 and return everyone safe and sound to their cars at 4:30 to 5:00. Please sign up for the bus by e-mailing Lauren Thorpe or calling 845-729-5750, and come to market square by 9:30 on Sunday morning. Be an integral part in jump starting the clean energy movement right here in New Hampshire!
